Procrastination = Lost Opportunity

by Debbie Franklin on May 19, 2009

The definition of procrastination is to defer action; delay: to procrastinate until an opportunity is lost.

So, why do people procrastinate? Overwhelm, self-doubt, time, dreading the task, disorganization, perfectionism….

But, what does procrastination cost? Lost opportunity, stress, overwhelm, sense of failure.

Procrastination can keep you from having the success you want in your business and in life!

Leaders made decisions quickly and then put them into action!

Overcoming procrastination will increase momentum toward achieving your goals; peace of mind; and a feeling of accomplishment!

Overcome procrastination by:

• Making a commitment to plan and schedule your day and follow through with that plan!
• Prioritize and do the most important and hardest task first thing. The sense of accomplishment will increase your productivity the rest of the day.
• Be realistic with your goals and schedule. Don’t set yourself up for failure – double the time you “think” it will take you to finish a task or project.
• Chunk it down – break down your bigger tasks into smaller more manageable ones.

Don’t let a great opportunity pass you by because you wait until the last minute to handle other items and therefore can’t accept the great opportunity that is knocking at your door!

Overcome procrastination, so you are ready for that opportunity that is coming your way!
