“The home is a reflection of the ruling mind.” While I have heard different variations of this statement before, this past weekend when I read it, it really started me thinking about my house, office, and life and was it really in order?
All my life I have been very organized, on schedule, and kept an immaculate house — that was “my job.” After raising three children and having an “empty nest,” I started my own business, working out of my home.
Several things have changed with this new direction in my life and letting go of things that used to be important to me is one of them. On some level I realized it, but on another level it really bothered me and I asked myself if those things were truly not important anymore?
I have contributed many of the changes to being very busy, but on a deeper reflection realized that it isn’t about being or not being busy — simply I have become unorganized, undisciplined, and and my priorities no longer reflect my true values.
Busyness is not productive and distractions continually pull at my schedule.
I have heard it say that your outer world is a reflection of your inner world. Ouch! My inner world must be screaming with all the chaos around me.
Since I am a woman of action and feel that in order to change something, you must first acknowledge there is a problem, I have taken action, rearranged my schedule, listed my priorities, and going to be working smarter, not harder.
In building your business, it is easy to lose parts of you that are your true self! Know this and plan accordingly. Don’t try to be a lone-ranger and do it all yourself. Plan and delegate!
I am working on getting my house in order — how about you?
