In the past, some women signed up with a direct sales company in order to be a business owner and work from their home, but most signed up to earn extra income for the family to either supplement their current income, have extra spending money, or to get the products they use and love at a discount.
In the current economy many direct sales companies have seen a significant rise in the number of people signing up to become representatives in their company. They are not seeking to supplement their income but, build a business. Many have turned to the direct sales/multi-level networking companies because of the lack of jobs in the market.
There are many direct sales/multi-level network companies to choose from, so how do you decide which one is right for you? First, it must be a product that you LOVE and have a passion for. You cannot talk about or share something that you don’t have a passion for. You will be representing the company, so check out their mission, policies, and what the company stands for. Are they a match with your values and what you want to achieve?
Second, look at your goals. Do you want extra income or the opportunity to build a home-based business? All companies are different in their compensation plans, as well as how they allow you to sell their products. Do you get a flat commission or are you required to sell a certain amount per month? Can you have a separate website or only use a replicated one for a fee? Are you allowed to sell products on e-bay, list them in the newspaper or in retail stores?
What are their recuiting guidelines? Are you restricted to certain areas? Do you have a minimum number of recuits in order to receive additional commissions?
What are the start up costs to become a representative of the company? What is included in this cost?
There are companies for cosmestics, jewelry, household products, nutritional supplements, service, crafts, and the list goes on. The first step in setting up a foundation for success is to find the right company for you. Everyone loves to talk and share something they love!
